Beer Plant Take Two

In the middle of the pandemic one of the things I missed the most, was eating the best food that Austin offers. Although The Beer Plant did not close and was offering pick-up and delivery, they are located a bit far to where I live and was not convenient.

Once  the restaurants started to open for dine-in, I was looking forward to visiting it once again.

Today was that day. My daughter and I ventured during their Sunday Brunch hours and enjoyed a well prepared, healthy and delicious gourmet vegan meal.

The brunch menu is short, which makes it easier to make a choice, and even then, my daughter had a difficult time deciding. After a good 10 or 15 minutes going back and forth on her choices, she decided to try the Carrot Lox, which made me very happy since I wanted to try it too.

It turned out to be absolute perfection. I'm still wondering how the chef can actually replicate such a delicious meal, that is normally made with salmon (which I love too), using carrots.  This was made with smoked carrot lox on an everything bagel with pickled red onion, dill cream cheese, capers , chives and a side of salad with creamy miso dressing.  I had a small taste and I will definitely go back to have it all.

I chose the Tarrytown scramble. On the menu they call it a loaded tofu scramble with Beyond sausage, crimini, poblano peppers, onions and kale on a bed of home fries, chermoula and Texas toast. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavorful experience and I was happy to share some with my daughter who  ate half of my fries and half of the toast. My taste buds were enjoying the ride and I will order this dish again in the near future.

After finishing our late lunch, I ordered dessert to go, the Turtle Cheesecake and the Pecan Porter Chocolate cake, and  we also stopped by Rabbit Grocery, just around the corner to purchase some Nada Moo ice-cream. Cookies and Cream and Salted Caramel were the flavors of choice.

We then went to a friend's house to share and let them try, for their very first time, the vegan delicious world of dairy free and egg free desserts. One of them loved it, the other one, picky as she is, was not impressed.

My daughter and I thought the desserts were scrumptious! The cheesecake has a cashew caramel, chocolate ganache and toasted meringue which melted in my mouth.

The cake was thick and creamy, pure perfection, with dark chocolate pudding and toasted pecans.

They also offer a Tres Leches cake which, unfortunately did not have this weekend. Next time, and there will be a next time!
